Takienta is a candle holder inspired by the earthen tower houses of the Koutammakou region. These traditional structures, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are at the heart of Batammariba life: they are places to live, to store grain, to shelter animals, and at the same time, to celebrate rituals and honor the ancestors.

Like the original dwellings, this candle holder plays with earth and light. Its small windows allow the candle’s glow to filter outward, recalling how the clay openings of the takienta let the houses breathe and gaze upon the landscape. It is not only a functional object: it is also a sculptural piece.

Placed in any space, Takienta pays tribute to the warmth of communities that build together and to the strength of the earth as a refuge.
